Still: In the Great Hall
I attended the Opening of the Open House Hobart for the Australian Institute of Architects at the recently rennovated (at least externally) iconic old University of Tasmania building. I finally photographed Domain House how I have wanted - at sunset and with the internal lights on. That photo is to follow. Here is one taken during the speeches. A 30 second exposure - and one lady stood completely still the whole time - right in the middle of the room.
Maestoao
Some more shots of the woodwind ensemble Maestoso. After filming tne concert I was asked to capture some group shots. I learned quickly to keep a narrower aperture as you will see the last shot only has a few of the members in focus. They were happy with the photo however and each member has a framed print.
Uncle Richard
A portrait of Beccy's Uncle Richard - photographed at Easter when we holidayed with them in York.
The conductor
I did some work at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland last week. Here are some of the photos. I love the lighing in this shot and the way the music sheet frame and draw the eye to the central choir conductor.
The Oboeist
The concert was Oboes at 1 o'clock directred by Stephen West. I really enjoyed the performance. The chap is a visiting musician from Paris.
The Composer
Sam Hutchings, a young staff member at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland prepares for a concert. A photo taken in a series I was shooting for the title frames of the concert video. A young man engrossed in his music and preparations.
I am hungry,
'I am hungry help me please, thank you.' A young lady beggar on the streets of Barcelona. Quite a dangerous occupation, I feel. I am sure she would prefer to be doing something else.
Terrace view. Barcelona.
Barcelona is lovely and warm and so many of the local population 'live in the street' as one speaker at the conference I attended said. I took this photo on the day after I spoke at the International Conference on Social Learning spaces - Espacios Sociales de Aprendizaje.
Maestoso
A very successful woodwind group called Maestoso has been keeping me very busy. The held their last public concert in Scotland before travelling to Ireland for performances last week. I was invited to film this for them and have produced a film for web and DVD. I'll publish some highlights later as these guys are outstanding and I am sure destined for wonderful futures.
