I don't know who Private Charles Victor Henley was. I do know he was born in March 1896 and died aged 20 on Monquet Farm between 19th and 22 August, 1916. He fought in Galipoli for three months between May and August 1916. Charles' mum and dad were William and Lilias. He had a brother William, sisters Lilias, June and Maida. Before the war he lived at 168 Davey Street and was a Warehouse Assistant. He has no grave although appears on the Villiers-Bretonneux Memorial in France and has a Himalayan Cypres Tree planted for him (in August, 1918) with plaque on Hobart Soldiers Memorial Avenue Hobart. Someone still cares for him as they left this posey of Wattle and wild flowers.
